....and am feeling blue.

I'm a feminine kinda girl, and my favourite colour has always been pink, but recently, I've been drawn more to the blues than anything else. I love the tranquility it creates, when combined with white.

Or its richness when teamed with chocolate brown.

Mostly, the thing I like about this hue, is its adaptability. It comes in so many shades and can be mixed with a variety of contrasting colours to create the perfect space.

Anyone else feeling the blues too?

Colourful living rooms

Perhaps it's because we're in summer, or maybe am naturally a sucker for all things vibrant. When I wondered over to Living etc, I fell for these colourful living rooms, very fresh and uplifting I think.

 My living room could do with a touch of colour, any favourites my dears?

Colour Comfort

Lately I've been finding comfort in strange things, well maybe not strange, just different.

The beautiful blue rose that I picked up from a hair accessories shop. The funny thing is that since I bought it last weekend, I've worn it practically everyday, but never on my hair. I clipped it straight onto my jacket the moment I got it.

It really complements the subtle purple of my coat. The lady in the shop gave me a funny look when I clipped it on, I guess it's not an Italian thing to do, but I love it. Sometimes it doesn't go with my outfit, it looks a bit too much.

So I wear it around my wrist.

I don't know what it is about this rose, but it's got me hooked, and blue isn't even my favorite colour. There was a pink one, but I specifically chose this one, and now I can't stop wearing it! Perhaps it's the colour that am addicted to, it's like a dark turquoise, and the simpleness of the rose petals adds to the beauty. This particular shade of blue really does it for me, it's cooling and relaxing, it makes me feel at home. I don't know what I feel at home with, but I know I feel at ease, and I look so effortlessly stylish especially when I wear it on my wrist. You wouldn't believe the number of compliments that I've had, people can't help touching it.

I don't know how long this fixation will go on for, but am going to enjoy the feeling for as long as it lasts, and it definitely proves the powers of colour therapy.

Apple of my eyes

Every now and again I fall head over heels for a well designed space. For some reason it catches my eyes above the rest as I flick through the magazine, or browse the web. The beautiful kitchen featured in May's issue of Livingetc is the latest apple of my eyes. The thing about this particular one is that I would never have chosen those colour combination for my own kitchen, but now am hooked on it. It's very understated chic. Does anybody else share my love for it, or is this a classic case of puppy love?

Love Affair

Nicole Jane Home recently posted a comment on twitter about her disbelief regarding some people's negativity towards the colour pink. I myself have a personal love affair with this particular shade of pastel, therefore I do struggle to understand why some people vehemently detest it. Pink is a colour that has been traditionally used to represent the female gender, so it is often viewed as soft and feminine. I remember growing up, there were the girls that liked the colour and the girls that didn't. The latter played football with the boys, whilst the former sat around reading fashion magazines, whilst thinking of 1001 ways to skip sports. (cliche?...but true)

Now as an adult the reputation still hasn't improved. As much as the fashion designers tried to reinvent it by flooding the catwalks with male models wearing salmon coloured shirts, the truth is that it is still an uncertain colour for a lot of people. Is it too young? Too feminine? The majority simply don't know how to wear this colour, let alone decorate their home with it.

Well enough I say! Pink is one of the most versatile of colours, it has an abundance of various shades, from the baby kind, to the strong fuschia. You can team it up with other pastels, like blues, and, yellows, as well as stronger colours such as black. It can be feminine, chic, or strong and bold. So if there is anyone out there who hasn't experimented with it yet, do it! I have included a few examples of the different ways this colour can be worked.
