Modern Chinese interior

I'm not really familiar with the Chinese interior design industry, so you can imagine my delight to have discovered this beautiful portfolio of DYEast Design Consultant. Please take some time to marvel at their work, I've taken the best part of the morning doing so.
Rather breath taking isn't it?
Now the bad news is that they do not currently have a website, hard to believe I know. Apparently they publish their work every so often, just to wet the appetites of inspiration junkies like myself.

Do you like folks?

Glamour + Romance

The sheer glamour and romance of this room simply knocked me off my feet the moment I set my eyes on it.

I love the assortment of purples used and the placement of lighting at various heights. There's the chandelier (which we only get a glimpse of), the standing lights next to the daybed, at opposite ends, and then the wall mounted lantern to the right of the picture.

Pure perfection!

Fireplace glamour

This is where I want to be right now. As the weather gets colder and colder, I'm craving warmth, comfort and a dash of winter glamour. I can really see myself curling up by this beautiful fireplace and reading Jane Austen's Emma for the 100th time.

Mathew Williamson's home collection

I love it when top fashion designers step into the world of interiors.
Mathew Williamson's home collection for the British department store Debenhams, is as beautiful and stylish as the pieces that he creates for the catwalk. As usual there is his signature of colour explosion and exoticism. The embroidery details are exquisite, and so are the patch work of the bedding. As if this wasn't enough, we "normal" people can get our pretty little hands on them, as they come at a none designer price tag.

What more can a girl wish for I say.

HAPPY PASSIONATE SEPTEMBER!

HELLO AUTUMN!

Ok, ok, I know it's not officially autumn yet, but today is the first of September and I am in the mood for the new season, even if I have to give it a gentle push. Please excuse my outburst, but my darlings, I am so, so giddy today. Giddy as a school girl with a crush! Why? I hear you ask. Two reasons, the rest of my stuff just arrived from Venice (literally) half an hour ago, so that officially marks the end of that chapter of my life.

It took a little while to get here due to complications with sending my bike from Italy, but finally it has arrived, and I cannot wait to tear open the boxes, I have a special place reserved for my tanned orange vintage typewriter, which I picked up at the antique market in Venice-Treviso. Sadly my beloved pinarello bike will remain in the box, as I believe that bike riding in London is for the insane. Apologies for any cyclist out there, but I just can't take the risk.

Swiftly moving on, the second thing making me all weak at the knees, is the new colours of the season. Folks I'm so happy to see the stronger palettes making a come back, from the deepest berry colours to the scarlets of reds. I'm no psychic but I say we're about to step into a season filled with passion, strength and zero fear.

Happy passionate September all!

Bedroom with charm

Ok I know we can't see the whole thing.
But the little bit that we do see, lets us know that there is a whole lotta beauty inside. Exposed bricks (my passion), teal walls, and from what I can tell, a gorgeous bed. Even the golden tassels on the antique wardrobe is divine.

Anyone else share my passion?

Out of Africa

Happy Friday my darlings! I hope it has been a good week for you all. I just found out that registration for my masters of architecture is on the 1st of September, that's right, next Wednesday! Ahhh! Scary thought been a student again, I feel like it was just yesterday that I was zipping around Venice in a boat, hopping from one island to the next, and now my life is going to be about lectures, thesis and endless late night study sessions. Oh goodness me!

The upside to all of this, is that I get to design again as a student, which means not giving a damn about budgets, and now that I have a blog, I can share all of my weird and wonderful creations with you folks. My year in Italy has been a real inspirational therapy for me, I literally soaked up every juicy bit of beauty in that gorgeous country, and now I feel re-charged, reborn (please excuse the drama) and ready to do my thing. Can I get an Amen friends?

In order to make the most of the free time that I have left, I have decided to do absolutely nothing. So today I'm taking it real easy, lounging around and flicking through old issues of interior magazines. One of my favourite past times, might I add. I came across the 2008 October issue of The world of Interiors, and fell in love all over again with a beach house in Africa. Lets all take a Friday mid-afternoon visual holiday to Kenya. Woohoo!

Home decor with buttons

Quirky play on scale.
Not exactly my personal taste, but I do like, especially against the background. I actually love that map wall paper, very fitting for an Indiana Jones-esque office.

Ikea 2011 collection

Is it me or has Ikea stepped up it's game, big time?
It looks like they have decided to enter the new year with a burst of colours! I have to admit that I went off Ikea the minute my billy bookcase started to fall apart within a couple of months, but a collection like this is enough to tempt me right back. Really digging those fruit and veggie baskets.

What say you darlings, thumbs up or down?

Feminine glam bedroom

I couldn't resist anymore!

I had to show you guys what I've been drooling over recently. Isn't it stunning? I really wish they featured it in the magazine, but unfortunately this front page is all there is. What a total tease, I say. From the gorgeous bed and dresser, to the lantern sitting on the window sill, I love every little detail. I look at this picture, and I see glamour, femininity, and hint of romance in the lovely flowers on the dresser. Not that a girl can't buy pretty petals for herself, but I guess I'm a hopeless romantic.

Glamourous Living

I want to live here. Period.
Contemporary, clean lines and lots of open space, what's not to love about this space. Did you guys get a whiff of the bathroom? The way it was over hanging form the bottom floor? I love every last detail of this home, especially the floor to ceiling windows, the whole place is essentially flooded with lots and lots of natural light.

Dining room tip

How to create more seating place.
I remember when I lived in Italy (like last month), whenever it came to dinners, there were never enough chairs for all the people invited. Luckily for my flatmates and I, we had really friendly neighbors who always lent us their dining chairs. However, I do like this idea of bench seating, stylish and ideal, all at the same time.

French style interior

Before signing off for the weekend...
I wanted to share this beautiful French style interior with you folks.
Funnily enough, this house is no where near France. It's in London! Extremely lovely isn't it? For some reason there's something very romantic about it all, do you guys get the same feeling, or is it just me?

...mmm, anywhoo my darlings, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your weekend!

Beautiful outdoor spaces

Autumn is in the air....
...but lets not wave good-bye to summer just yet.
Unfortunately for this London girl, the weather here hasn't been too friendly lately, so I can only dream of beautiful homemade alfresco dinning. For you lucky ones out there basking in the warm sunshine, I hope you make the most of your outdoor space before it's all over.
