Quick hello

Hello darlings, I just popped in to say a quick hi and bye. I desperately wanted to make a post today, but I'm not going to be able to unfortunately. I just came back home from saying more good byes to friends, getting a few presents for folks back home, and making the odd apology for my departure, to be honest I'm too emotionally drained to put any words together. My taxi is arriving soon to take me to the airport, so I must go now.

Enjoy your weekend my lovelies, and pop back on Monday, to hear all about my last couple of days in Venice-Treviso.

Champagne Friday!

Join the celebrations....
Today is my last day at work, and my last working day in Italy. I seriously cannot believe that it has already been 11 months, actually in a weird way it feels like I have been here longer. So many things have happened, so many adventures, good times, sad times and especially embarrassing times.
Have some champagne my dears, here's to life and making the most of it. Cheers!

Have a wonderful break.

p.s...Although I don't normally post on the weekends, however if I'm able to, I will tomorrow, before flying out.

Beautiful house in India

A mid-afternoon dream...
Packing is such a stressful job, seriously! First, there's the packing of the suitcases, then the boxes to be shipped, and also taking the bike (of course I'm taking my gorgeous Pinarello with me) to the shop to be dismantled and boxed. I'm already exhausted, there's a million and one things to be done, and they must all be done right now. Thank-fully I was lucky enough to come across this beautiful house in India, just at the right time.

It's beauty provided a welcomed distraction.
.....alright, enough dreaming, back to work folks.

Wish List Wednesday

A wish come true....
There was once a young traveling designer, who woke up one morning and longed to be back home with her beloved family, friends and beautiful city. She contemplated about her wishes, should she stay in the kingdom of Italy for the remaining month or should she pack up and return to her kingdom of Great Britain.

After thinking long and hard, short and narrow, large and wide, the young traveler came to a decision. Although she could stay and have her holidays in her current city, however her heart has long left, and so she must follow.

With those feelings in mind, she set forth arranging a meeting between herself and the department of voyage within her place of labour. Soon afterward, a date was appointed, and the young traveler's wish came true. Come this Saturday, she will once more be with her beloved ones.

You guessed it ladies and gentlemen, I'm going back home to London this Saturday! Whoo! I know it's a bit sudden, but like my banner says, a life worth living is a life lived with passion, these are my very words that I live by. I always follow my heart and it is no longer here, so neither should I be.

p.s....am doing a happy dance, this Wednesday's wish has come true. Have you folks had any wishes come true recently?

Happy 100th to Ijeoma by Ijeoma!

Today marks my 100th post!
....and all I can say is wow! I truly cannot believe that a little blog I started 4 months ago, has come this far. At the risk of sounding like a Hollywood actress making her acceptance speech, I would first of all like to thank God. For the confidence and continued inspirations. I've always been camera shy, and so not into social networking stuff, like twitter, facebook and even blogs, now look at me.

I would also like to thank the friends I've made along the way, like my fellow bloggers Carmen Martins of Achados De Decoracao, Rosa Ronco of Chic Deco, and Zanele Okonkwo, who found my blog through my new facebook page. Thanks ladies, for your love and support, since the very beginning, when my blog had not more than 10 posts. Thanks also to my commenters, the new readers, the returning ones, and those who loved it so much, they wrote to tell me they introduced it to their friends. Last but certainly not least, thanks to my family and friends for everything. I wouldn't be me without them.

Darlings I do apologise for the lengthy speech, so without further ado lets raise our glasses and (virtually) toast my 100th post with the finest Prosecco and the most delicious chocolate cake.

You guys make it all worth it!
 xoxo

Oh what a weekend!

Bassano del Grappa
I'm the girl lucky enough to be lounging around this pool all day Saturday. It's a real beauty, isn't it? Both the pool and the art deco style architecture, they look like something from Architectural Digest.
The house belongs to my friend, and is situated in Bassano del Grappa, a beautiful town in northern Italy.
This is a good example of why it's good not to plan things sometimes. Last week, I had absolutely no agenda for the weekend, during Friday's aperitivo, I bumped into a friend whom I hadn't seen in ages. So, to cut a long story short, "I was all up in his casa" all day the following day. I really can't get enough of this pool, it's seriously stunning, and most importantly, refreshing.
In the evening, we explored the town a bit more, and wow! It's a 30min drive from the Dolomites, so you can really see the mountains clearly. They form a beautiful background for the rest of the town, and everything ends up looking very picture perfect.
I've always been told of its loveliness, but I guess I wasn't prepared for all this beauty, all in one place.
I can see why Ernest Hemingway chose to settle here, it's a very inspiring place, literally each corner you take, takes your breath away.
It was a really good day, quite exhaustive too, so I took it easy on Sunday. All in all, it was a fantastic weekend!

What did you folks get up to?

Apperitivo

Welcome to Relais Monaco...
Oh, was the word I thought when we arrived at this beautiful hotel yesterday evening. When a friend invites you to after work apperitivo, naturally you assume that it's a fairly low key event, right? Obviously wrong! So there we were, five under-dressed girls and a dog, peeking into the gate, trying to decide if we should go in or not. Finally we did, and this is what we met......
A garden laid with beautiful white tents......
.....and a gorgeous pool surrounded with glittering tea lights.
What would life be, without crazy friends?

So it ended up been a good night, a little pricey, but definitely worth it. The food was delicious too. If you're ever in Ponzano, which is in the Veneto region of Italy, then you must check it out.

Have a good weekend folks, I have no plans as yet, I'll see what pops up. As always am ever so curious to know what you guys are doing.

Victorian house

Top of the morning darlings!
I'm absolutely loving this Victorian house, especially the summery colour palette.
I really like it when the kitchen opens up to a beautiful porch, it makes the whole space bigger, and perfect for entertaining.
For me this is the best bit about the house, I have a major love for sun decks. I wish more city homes came like this, with lots of space to live as you like.

Wish List Wednesday

Etsy bitsy spider......
Today, I wondered over to the Etsy website, and I found these items absolutely adorable. Suddenly the thin line between wanting and needing is blurring. The wooden bowl, in my ever-so-humble opinion, is a summer must have. It gives that extra touch to alfresco dinning, no?  The polka dot pillow is probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it was love at first sight. As for the basket, well that can go on the kitchen counter top, by a corner somewhere. Handy for picking the herbs from the garden, which I'll grow in the future (.....of course I will).

Could you folks do with any of these in your home?

Guess who's New York apartment

Top of the Morning to you beauties.
Today am dying to share a little discovery I came across recently. Actually, I'm going to do something that I've never done before, I'll show you the pics first, before telling you who it belongs to. I want to see if anyone can guess it correctly.
....ok, ok, you get one clue, it belongs to a designer.
Wow, in the words of Sony, colour like no other. It is beautiful, but for me it's a bit too loud, I need my home to be relaxing and calm, a sanctuary to come back to after my adventures. What do you guys think, livable and lovable, or just lovable, perhaps neither?

Alright, drum-roll please.....this colourful and vibrant New York apartment belongs to no other than the industrial, turned architect, interior, and fashion designer, Karim Rashid.

Ok, who guessed it?

Weekend Sparkles

Morning darlings, good weekend?
Mine came with a touch of sparkles. Saturday was a really good day. I spent the afternoon at the beach with friends, and in the evening the festival of Il Redentore (which marks the end of the plague) started. At around 11:30 pm, the Venetian sky erupted with the most beautiful fireworks display, oh so romantic my dears.
Sunday was a bit more relaxing, I slept late and treated myself with some real comfort food, cheese ommlette with toast, yum yum.

What about you folks, what did you get up to?

Funky wallpaper stickers

At first I wasn't sure about these wallpaper stickers that have suddenly started popping up in the interior design scene.

....but now I think am converted. In the right setting, why not? They can add add a certain whimsical humor to a space. The first image is my favourite, it's playful and funny, I can see it in my own home, but I'll probably replace the couch.

What do you guys think, can you see any of them in your home?

Have a great weekend all, seeing that tomorrow is predicted to be 40'C, I'll probably be staying at home all day, way too hot for me. Anyways, it'll be a perfect opportunity to catch up on all the blog reading that I missed whilst in London. As usual, am always happy to hear what you folks are getting up to.

Enjoy your break and see you on Monday!

Honey I'm Home!

I'm home my darlings, and what a relaxing break, I did nothing! Again, I apologise for the internet failure, but as fate would have it, the connection at my parents house decided to play up 2 days prior to my arrival, and my internet key didn't fuction properly in Britain, it took a few attempts to finally send out my emergency post. Anyway, things are back to normal now, blogging as usual tomorrow.

Oh and one more thing, I have no pics of London, I forgot my camera at home, it serves me right for packing 2 hours before my flight. No worries folks, as I'm back to London for good next month, more on that when dates are finalised.

....in the meanwhile, here's a pic of the Dolomite mountains, where I might be holidaying this summer.
...you should really see it covered in snow, even more gorge!

Cheers folks for your love and support through the last couple of days, much appreciated.

An English Summer

It's so good to be back home, sleeping in my old room, my mum making a fuss over me, and enjoying the great British summer. Contrary to popular belief, we are actually having a really good weather, the sun is out, and unlike Venice, it's not burning.

Actually, this is a really good time to be here, as the strawberry season has just begun. Let me tell you folks, there's nothing like home-grown English strawberries, truly delicious I say. So this weekend, I'll be kicking back, taking it easy, no adventures, just eating strawberries with whipped cream.

Have a good weekend darlings, and if you have time, then drop me a line and let me know what you are up to.

Bye - Am off to London

Seriously I am! I completely forgot to tell you folks 2 weeks ago, that I had booked my flights to London. One whole week! Whoo! It happened over the weekend, and I think on a particularly eventful weekend, so by Monday, it became old news. Fear not my beautiful darlings, I will still be blogging as usual, bringing you all the gossip from home sweet home.
Bye folks, I need to pack my bags now, am leaving for the airport soon

P.s...isn't this the cutest suitcase, if only it was mine.

Wish List Wednesday

It recently dawned on me a couple of days ago, that I haven't got the right summer shoes. I love my balley flats, but they are way too hot for this weather. I am in desperate need of the triple S. "Smoking, summer, sandals (yes am quite proud of that concoction). These are my 10 best picks, and you know what the best thing is?
They are all on sale, so check out the kurt Geiger website. Unfortunately my international darlings, they only deliver to the UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland.

I'll keep a look out for some great deals for you guys too, and if anyone has one they would like to share, then please be my guest. All I ask is that they are the triple S, and on sale.

Masculine Kitchens

This post from apartment therapy totally made me smile. My dears it seems that kitchens also have a gender, the feminine and the masculine. No jokes.

Exhibit A, the macho kitchens
Apparently the key element that most masculine kitchens have, is their industrial style, be gone with the frilly aprons and pastel coloured fridges, the steel is in.
I don't know about you guys, but I can easily see a woman in all of those kitchens, surely it's due to personal taste, right? Well am not one to make a fuss, if the guys want to take over, I say we let them.

What say you, my darlings? Are these kitchens really that masculine?

Spacious family home

Welcome back friends, good weekend? Mine was a little less quite than I had initially thought, but very exciting all the same. I went jet skiing yesterday, well more paddling around the sea than anything else, it turns out it's not as easy as it looks on baywatch.
So this morning am in the mood for a touch of comfort and luxury.
What a beauty, right?
I think it's halfway between a gallery and a home. What do you folks say?
